Frequently Asked Questions

Q. What are eyelash extensions?

We must first know what eyelash extensions even are…and to answer that, it’s imitation singular eyelashes that’s dipped in a tiny amount of glue and then adhered to your natural lashes individually one by one.

Q. Why do clients get eyelash extensions?

People get eyelash extensions for a variety of reasons.

Here are a few reasons Lash Status clients get them:

  1. Instantly enhanced beauty, confidence, and compliments
  2. No mascara needed
  3. Save time everyday with make-up every morning for work
  4. Going on vacation rocking gorgeous lashes
  5. Water resistant and still look good at the beach
  6. Going to wedding events
  7. etc…

Waking up already beautiful, minus the slobber, is always a good thing.

Q. Will lash extensions damage my natural lashes?

It depends on your eyelash technician. Improper application of eyelash extensions can damage your natural lashes. But if done properly then your lashes should be just fine!

Damage can happen when the eyelash extensions are too heavy for your natural lashes to hold. Or, the eyelash extensions are stuck together without each natural lash being isolated from it’s neighbor lashes.

This often occurs at cheap salons with no ongoing lash training.

That’s why it’s important to go to someone that knows what they are doing. Don’t be upset if you get sent away due to weak lashes, THANK HER because she’s only looking out for you and those lashes!

You don’t need to worry about this at Lash Status, because we’re all about lashes being done with the upmost care and practice.

Lash Status are lash specialists and we take lash health very seriously. We will never jeopardize your natural lashes by over extending or not isolating lashes. We spend a great deal of time and energy on ongoing training and staying on top of new lash technology to keep you looking your best.

Q. Do eyelash extensions hurt?

Lash extensions should never cause you pain or discomfort.

The application process can be relaxing and clients take “beauty naps” during their treatment.

If you experience any discomfort at all (during your application or during daily wear), please inform your lash stylist immediately.

Q. Can I get my lashes wet?

Yes, and you should every day!

After the initial 24-48 hour drying period, it’s recommended you wash your lashes with a non oil based cleanser daily.

This will help you remove the collection of makeup, dirt and oils which degrade the eyelash adhesive.

Exposure to water, like swimming everyday, may reduce your eyelash retention.

This just means you may need a refill sooner.

Q. How long do eyelash extensions last?

It depends on the person.

Your natural lashes shed, taking the extension with it.

Women with natural short lashes might see their extensions fall out quicker, not FAST, but quicker than women with longer natural lashes. Everyone natural lashes does fall out due to the natural state of Lash growth. So seeing a few lashes on the pillow after about a week and a half, is normal so don’t freak out!!

It depends on the adhesive.

The bond between the eyelash extension and natural lash lasts up to 6-8 weeks.

Some cheap salons may use lower quality adhesive that are heavier, or only hold the bond for 4-6 weeks.

It depends on the refill.

We recommend refill appointments to lash any new growth and to replace those lashes that has fallen off.

We recommend a refill within 3-4 weeks for volume lashes, and 2-3 weeks for classic lashes.

To sum it all up, most eyelash extension can last 4-8 week with proper refills.

Q. Are eyelash extensions safe?

When applied correctly by a quality specialist, eyelash extensions are perfectly safe.

Sterilized equipment, high-grade adhesive, and clean supplies are always used at Lash Status.

Q. Will I have an allergic reaction?

Honestly, it does happen.

Some people are allergic to the ingredients in the glue. Most of time that ingredient is, Latex.

If you know you have allergic reactions to things and pretty sensitive, it’s important to let your stylist know so she can do a patch test 48 hours before your appointment.

A patch test is basically putting a small amount of glue adhesive on eye and seeing how your eyes react to the adhesive the next day, if there’s no reaction to the adhesive, then get ready to react to your beautiful new set of lashes!!

Q. What are lashes made from? What kind do you use?

We use synthetic/faux mink lashes at Lash Status.

Other types of lashes include real mink, silk and acrylic lashes.

Real mink and fox fur lashes are offered by some salons. We believe this is an unethical and cruel treatment of animals. Harvesting animal fur is against Lash Status’s values.

These animals are often kept in poor conditions, small cages, and dirty environments while they are brushed for their fur. We consider this animal cruelty and do not support using animal products for cosmetic purposes.

As well, the fur does not hold a curl and is irritating and/or allergic to our eyes.

If your current lash salon offers real mink, we encourage you to reconsider your patronage, or request they stop using mink.

Q. What are the longest, thickest lashes I can get?

We want your natural lashes to be as healthy for a long time.

That’s why we never overload your natural lashes.

  1. We will not extend your lashes by more than 40% of it’s natural length.
  2. We will evaluate your lashes and recommend a safe thickness for your eyes.

This ensures your eyelashes last longer, and stay healthier for a long time.

Q. You're too expensive... can you go cheaper? Do you price match?

If shopping for a cheap price is your goal, than we’re probably not a fit for you. In this industry you get what you pay for.

We are a mid-priced salon that invest in our stylist training, education, high-quality products, and tested supplies.

So that you can have “damage free” lashes that last longer and stay healthier even with lash extensions.

We also aim to offer you the “high-end” experience the best way we can, without you having to pay high-end prices. And that’s what make our work so unique, and our time in demand.

Q. I have lashes from another salon, can I book in for a refill with Lash Status?

Call for a consultation.

We need to see if the previous work done is comparable with our own.

If your current lashes are improperly applied, then a removal and a full set will be needed.

Q. Can I wear mascara on my eyelash extensions?

Nope, there is no reason to wear mascara.

Lash extensions are black and extend your natural lashes so there’s no need for mascara.

Mascara degrades the adhesive and may clump together your extensions.

The mascara residue can deteriorate your lash retention and speed up your refill date.

We recommend avoiding mascara, but if you must, must lash extension safe mascara, and only apply them to the tips.
